Abstract
A first study of the peracarid crustaceans from the "Ria" of Alvor is given by the analysis of 36 subtidal stations and 17 intertidal stations. This coastal system has a typical fauna of European coastal lagoons but its peracarid populations do not seem abundant. The communities are described in accordance with hydrosedimentary gradient: a medium clean sand community near the mouth of the "Ria", an intermediate community and a landward community on sandy mud bottoms.
