Abstract
Lepidochitona canariensis (Thiele, 1909) is reported to have been found in Mauritania. This is a southern range extension for a chiton until now only known from the Canary Islands, Madeira, a few localities west of the Strait of Gibraltar and one report from the Mediterranean (south of the Iberian Peninsula).
