Description
Dataset on densities and (larval) settlement of organisms important or harmful to the oyster culture for 5 biotopes in the Sluice Dock Oostende. The data were digitized by VLIZ from the original report: Polk, P. (1965). Oecologie van de Spuikom te Oostende in verband met de oestercultuur. PhD Thesis. First part of this dataset gives an overview of species found at the study site found between March 1960 and December 1961. A second part focused on the settlement of larvae on wooden planks to study the attachment period and vertical distribution of these larvae. The last part gives densities of most important zooplankton taxa per biotope (E, S, N, W, SE). Additionally growth is measured for Mytilus edulis, Ostrea edulis and Crepidula fornicata. For each sampling date transparency and water temperature were measured for the 5 biotopes.
