On the basis of bottom samples, the granulometry and the composition of the bottom of the Lower-Zeeschelde is determined. These data are then mapped. The mapping of the bottom of the lower Zeeschelde needs to be repeated every 5 years, because of the temporal variability of the composition of the bottom sediments. This variation in sediment composition is also seen spatially.
